Start calling the companies you've signed up with. Make the call quick just introduce yourself and ask if they have any signings in your area today.
As far as loving what you do and meeting people. I have a suggestion to use up some of your hopefully temporary spare time. I go to a local assisted living community once a month and notarize any documents the residents need notarized (free). I've met so many wonderful people and a few wonderfully grouchy people as well. Plus if you like pie and cookies you'll go home with enough to last the whole month.

Good Luck and don't give up!
