I was first commissioned in 1974 and have completed more notarizations than I could ever count. I have never had a claim and have never had anyone request my records. Your notary e&O covers notary work, not the signing agent portion. Your job as a notary, I'm guessing in every state, requires the minimum of personal appearance by your signer and proper identification pursuant to your requirements, which are guided by your state, not by a CA signing service, title company or loan officer. If you meticulously follow your state laws, you should never have a problem (although we all know a problem can appear from a seemingly nothing incident). One other thing, use the same procedures every time you notarize and if you should ever be called upon for any reason you can state you KNOW you did xyz because you do xyz every time and never deviate from that.
