The last time I worked with them was a year ago. I agreed to a mod signing at 1:30 the Friday after Thanksgiving. Think it was 3 pages and they were being sent to the borrower. It was scheduled a week in advance. I called the borrower and left a message on Monday. Realized on Friday morning that I hadn't heard back and called again and left another message. I'm thinking Black Friday shopping or maybe she had gone out of town and forgotten. The borrower lived a little out of the way so I was out running some errands, cell phone in pocket waiting for her to call back.
At 1:45 some smart mouth little girl with Nations Direct called me to see where I was, saying that the borrower had called to say she was late getting home and thought she had missed me. (She didn't check her machine). I told her that I had been waiting for a return call and was 10 minutes away and would promptly go over. She starts SCOLDING me for not being there at 1:30 regardless of whether the appt had been confirmed or not. I was flabbergasted that this snot nose brat was screaming at me like I was an incompetent idiot. Needless to say I told her to take me off their list. She hung up on me. I called back and asked to be speak to the supervisor in charge and told her of my experience with this girl. I offered to go ahead and get this one handled so the borrower wasn't penalized for no good reason IF she couldn't find someone else to get it done but insisted that I never receive another call from their company. She found someone else.
I can't help but take some joy in your post. And you're absolutely right that they are busting their butts trying to get these closings handled. If they called you 15 times, then they have called all the other notaries in your area just as many times. So what's that? About 150 phone calls made just to get one closing covered? What a shame. |
