Colorado notary law 24-21-515(6) requires a notarial certificate to be part of, or securely attached to, the record, and the attachment method must conform with any standards established by the SOS.
SOS training, Module 3, states that a loose notarial certificate must be attached to the document with a staple. There is no requirement to staple all pages of a document together.
As a notarial certificate best practice, the SOS recommends including the document title and date on the loose certificate, so it is only relevant to a specific document, and cannot be attached to another document. I also include the page number as page n of n. |
