Like being demoted from Notary WITNESS Agent To the likes of a . . . "notary"!
That may be it in a nutshell: No need for me to facilitate anything; ID, notarize (yes, in my presence) and leave. The responsibility stops at my stamp IF they say NO Contact. If Contactless is what they want, they have to prepare Their client for what that means. Notary shouldn't have to take responsibility for rest (L.O. and/or TC obviously trusts their client) - and should have them sign a disclaimer that should a return trip be needed for work outside the notarization, it will require full fee.
Just don't expect me to adjust based on each newfangled derivative introduced if it doesn't fit my comfort level or business model* (learned that from the pros here). Like the "car signings," they can call it whatever but I have to feel right about the TOCs!
Just had one of my regular TCs tell me their client has "decided to come to our office." That means OUTSIDE, as they aren't doing closings inside to my knowledge. Point being: It is about Choices and the borrowers made one - an informed one.
*Currently that model is: Everyone gets pre-screened so we're all on the same page at the signing. No indoor signings. And docs don't leave my sight and/or site.
