I'm office manager/solo admin for two attorneys and do 99% of my notary work for them, primarily the one in estates/wills/trusts. So, lots of grant deeds for folks to move their property into a trust. Today she had me snail-mail a grant deed to a client in L.A. (we're in northern CA) for the client to have notarized there and mail back to us. The acknowledgment was missing the box around the required boxed notice above the venue. When I said, "Oops, that notice needs to be in a box," she said she sees formerly notarized (not by me!) deeds "all the time" that don't have a box around the notice. I've literally just reread the SOS's notary public handbook several times because my reappointment exam is this weekend, so I KNOW the CA Gov't Code requires a BOX around the notice.
