My suggestion to avoid non-payers would be to research them in Signing Central (tab above), then do a Search (use orange button here) then do a Google search for (company name reviews). If you find good reviews, you'll probably have a good experience working with them. If you find bad/poor reviews, it's probably best you NOT work with them and avoid keeping them in business.
