Re: Looking into becoming a new Loan Signing Agent in MD TIPIC

Once you become a Notary Signing Agent, I would caution you not to write in any profile that being a signing agent is done in your spare time, to make extra money, as a side gig. Don't give hiring parties the impression that you're a hobbyist. Just list your evening and weekend hours. Whether or not you have a full-time day job isn't anyone else's business. When you receive calls for loan signings, just state what you CAN do, not what you CAN'T do.

Scheduler calls and offers you a signing for 11am. Instead of saying NO, I can't because I have a day job, just say that your schedule is booked at 11am, next available appt is 7:30pm, and ask if the borrower's flexible on time? Sometimes, it's NO, borrowers are firm on time and must sign at 11am, thanks and goodbye. Or YES, borrowers mentioned they'd rather sign in the evening anyway, great, 7:30pm will work.

Remember, state what you CAN do, not what you CAN'T do. No one's business why you CAN'T do something. Say nothing about your day job.......you're "booked" or "unavailable".
