First of all I never once got the impression this was a real estate closing. From the story the OP told us, I assumed it was some misc. documents this Tanisha Bowman hired her to go out and have signed. As it turns out, I was correct.
Secondly, I am not sure why you are saying that "we NEVER pay for a shipping label or even put our name on it as from the sender". I have paid for numerous shipping labels and put my name on as the sender. I do enough private work and the fee for the entire scope of work is factored in ahead of time with my client.
The sad thing is that Tanisha Bowman is not a business and there was no way "to go and have them send you a label". She is a real estate agent with some sort of side gig and she hired the OP to go out and collect some signatures for her. I think you assume that the only thing notaries on here are doing is loan signing packages and are only hired through signing companies and title companies.
I hope that anyone who reads this thread will be more diligent about receiving payment for the entire scope of work before taking on private work, which is what this was. |
