I live in the most affordable area of the state and the average price of a home is around $450.00. The average price of a home in CA is around $800,00. Coastal areas are so much more.
Our area is building, building and building some more. While I like seeing this, it really doesn't make any sense with the water problems we are having, which is just politics.
The advantages of living in CA far exceed the disadvantages as far as I'm concerned.
We have mountains in our back yard and the ocean only 2 hrs. away.
Wine country is practically everywhere: Paso Robles, Santa Barbara, Lodi, Eldorado, Napa. Wineries are even popping up in our area: Fresno, Madera.
The weather is unbeatable except in the summer in the central San Joaquin Valley. It gets stinking hot but practically no humidity. Just got back from the midwest and the humidity was daunting and not something I would ever desire to live in on a permanent basis.
We've known several people that thought the grass was greener in Texas, Utah, Montana, Wyoming. Guess what, they're back.
