always manually remove the old program first before updating to a newer version of any third party software. Many programs had a message that comes up warning you that the old program needs to be removed because of those left over DLLs. Nowdays just go into control panel and use the add/remove software tool to remove the old programs, restart the computer and then install the new program in the normal way. Also the only auto-updates I have on are Mcafee and Windows. I make sure all other programs that have auto-updates have that feature turned off so can control the process if I want to upgrade. Also, I usually test drive the program on my desktop computer first to see if it is something I want before Install it on my business computer (to avoid down time, you need to have two of everything because sooner or later one of them is going to break).
Adobe 7.05 is much faster and cleaner and has a few extra features that are pretty slick. I have also opened old pdf files that are years old without any problems. |
