I've been a legal secretary for over 20 years, and one of the few who still considers myself a secretary -- many have taken the title of Paralegal, although I consider a true paralegal the "researcher." I began my own legal secretarial transcription biz in 1992.
Past law firm employers and now clients consist of Public Finance, Business Finance, Environmental, Taxation, Estate Planning/Probate, Workers' Comp, Litigation, Appelleate, Real Estate, and Family Law. I refuse to do Criminal and I've quit doing Bankruptcy because of the liability issues that would directly affect me after the new law. To me, law is law -- the terminology is somewhat different is all. |
