Pamela, I do it all the time and haven't lost any business because of it. I usually will tell the SS/TC if I have another closing to do later on and will be leaving my house at such and such a time and it is imperative, if they want me to do the closing, that I get the docs on time. I have even called them when the docs weren't there when they were supposed to be. I would suggest you just use common sense when dealing with them. I get a LOT of calls for closings within four hours from the time they call me. I always ask them where they are located and what time it is there now - then I tell them what time it is where I am at and when I need the docs. FYI, I also ask immediately if there are any piggybacks or faxbacks and then inform them that I charge an extra fee for either one or both. If they say no, then, when I get the docs and there is something extra in there I call them up and tell them they need to adjust the confirmation sheet for an additional ### to cover the "extras" in the package. I have had one SS tell me that there were not piggybacks and when I get the docs there is a QuitClaim Deed included. Well, I called the SS immediately and told them that I had asked if there were any piggybacks and they said no and now I get the docs and there is a QCD included. My fee for the extra is $$$. She stated: "Well, its all part of the package" and I told her "well, without the QCD there would be NO package". She agreed to my extra fee. Just trying to help. |
