Great response! I hate it when they start with "the other notary..." stuff. I recently had one guy talking about his last refi. He had taken the docs to his bank and a person there who had been a notary for 25 years (or so he said) did the notarizations. She didn't administer an oath and I did (and there was something else he said that clued me that she probably had no loan doc training), so the comparisons started. Since I'd only been a notary for 6 years vs. her 25, he at first assumed I didn't know what I was doing. ("Oh, no wonder." Somehow, I managed to hold my tongue and not explain to him that she may have just had the same one year of experience 25 times! Fortunately, he came around before we finished.
But I had a different one last week that kind of made up for it... "The other notary" apparently showed up with a bad attitude and unprofessional behaviour. (I was there to finish the job (s)he was supposed to.) Boy, did I get an ear-full - and possibly some future business down the road from a third party who just happened to be there! |
