| PL, the first time that happened to me I had done the signing on one day and left the next day on vacation. I was about 300 miles from home when title called and said "you never collected the check". I specifically remembered doing it and putting it in the package (it was a rather large check). I was really sweating it because I was out of town and could do nothing about it. Thankfully, about one hour later, title called me back and said they had it, whoever opened the package took it out. After that incidence, I started stapling the check to the HUD so it wouldn't get misplaced. The next time it happened, I asked them, do you have the HUD? Yes. Are there staple marks in the upper right hand corner? Yes. My response, then you have the check somewhere in your office. It's simple, but gives me much better peace of mind. |
