Just a view from the other side of the fence, I do require Fax back from my company for all of our GMAC loans. There is about 8 to 10 pages that get faxed back. I will not lie they are used to quick check the docs before they go back to the lender, however our real purpose for the faxes(every fax we get is backed up on our end and kept forever.) is so that if the lender happens to loose a page(and it happens) and they need it resigned or an ack sent over they we can send them a fax copy to fund off of while waiting for a hard copy.
I know its annoying however I think if you do enough loans for the same company its like second nature, I have closed over 300 loans for GMAC and the packages always look the same and the docs are always in the same order, for me to pull the docs and fax then put them back its five maybe ten min at most. I can do it in my sleep now.
