Fernando Valley, I assume you meant San Bernardino. I had to attend a school conference a few months ago, it was in Santa Barbara, a 350 mile drive for me, when I first moved to CA in 1969 I lived in the San Fernando Valley until shortly after we had our second child and housing was much more affordable at that time further east, so we headed to Riverside County in 1984.We bought our first house in that area for $70,000.00 brand new and darling. We raised our kidos there and remained there until they completed school. I guess I got off track but my point was as I passed through those 350 miles of valleys because that is what CA is one valley after another. I was stunned at the growth through the entire 350 mile trip. I had not been in the area for at least 15 years. The freeways were lined with condos and houses. I guess I always sort of wonder how does one end up buying a home almost on top of the freeway, assuming the freeway was there first. And yes everything is lit up like Vegas 24-7, on the mountain, everything is dark but when I head down each morning still being dark, you drive on highway 18 also known as Rim of the World the entire valley floor below is a maze of lights even at 4:30 a.m. Should it be a cloudy day, one can't see the floor below due to the mass of clouds I now refer to that mass as marshmellows if one has ever been above the clouds. It's just plain neat living here. I was just out on the deck working on a project and I recalled the other day as I was cooking din din on the barbie, a little humming bird went into one of my actually fake bird houses(another words for display only) but the bird is welcome to go in. Anyway Mr. Tweety was going in and out of the birdhouse that day as I was cooking outside, today however it must be Mrs. Tweety and she has returned, she is bringing her young ones some eats....SHE HAD YOUNGINS A few years back I had a mom and pop bluejay, build a nest on the lower deck and give birth .......too sweet....This is so much of what I love about living here, so close to nature. |
