I appeared in court today and the audience was postponed for June 12. Back in 2010 I closed a Reverse Mortgage and notarized the signatures of a couple upon presenting their IDs. According to the DOT Mrs. Doe signed as non-borrower spouse. The defendant’s atty explained to me that it’s very possible that Mr. Doe obtained a fake ID with his wife’s name to sign the reverse mortgage docs with a lady that was not his wife. As of today, Mr. Doe is in a nursing home suffering a bad case of alzaheimer. Mrs Doe attended the audience this morning and she is in her late 80s (bless her heart), which means that if she signed as a non-borrower spouse in 2010 she could be in her 60s now. Mrs. Doe is suing because she claims that she is not the person that signed the reverse mortgage docs as they got divorce in 2004. I made a comment to the attorney that if there was a Divorce Decree of record how come the title company didn’t disclose it? I spoke to my E&O Insurance today and they are aware of the case.
