Yes, Notaries, Plumbers & the Cable Guy are guests

Guest - a person who is invited to visit the home of or take part in a function organized by another. If the homeowner allows us into their home, we’re guests. The fact that we’re there to do a job is neither here nor there. A confirmation phone call was made to introduce ourselves - even if left on a voicemail. The homeowner knows we’re coming. I like your procedure to ask the client if they’d like to meet at their home or a public place like a coffee shop. But even if we don’t get to that question, we’re still guests in their home.

Unless the person has a gun pointed at you, if you allow them across your threshold, by definition, they’re a guest.

 Thanks Lisa. I also view us as "guests". I'm not a sue -  MW/VA on 7/6/19 9:11am
