But, beware. There are some companies out there that will flatly tell you they don't pay extra for scan/faxbacks. There's one particular company that always requires scanbacks. Because of this, they already have in their system that my base fee is $150. When they call me, they know that any extras (i.e. distance) calls for additional fee(s).
My procedure is to ask all pertinent (to me) questions when scheduler calls:
1. What kind of signing? (purchase, refi, sellers, reverse; residential, commercial, exchange, etc) 2. Exact location of signing? (and Googlemap it, I charge extra for anything further than 15 miles from home base; sometimes signing location is through winding mountainous 2-lane roads, that calls for additional fee) 3. Are docs ready now/when? (package size)(I charge extra for anything over 130 pages) 4. Number of signers? (more than 3 incurs additional fee) 5. Is property in Trust or is this a POA signing? (usually more table time) 6. Is Spanish (in my case) required? (additional fee required) By this time, I already have a fee in mind. 7. Any special instructions? (next day delivery to escrow; fax/scanbacks -- both incur additional fee)
Only then can I give scheduler an accurate quote. IMO, the only negotiable items would be package size, number of signers and property in Trust.
