I haven't received any info on the extension, but when it first came out it was not technically a remote signing. Yes, you would view the signer over video, but you watched the signer sign the document and then they send it to the notary via fax or email, or some other means of receiving the copy, and the notary would sign and stamp the document on video while the signer watches, and then send it back to the signer using fax, email, etc. In addition to all this, the video transaction has to be recorded by the notary and kept for 10 years. There is also special wording that has to be written on the notary certificate. This would work with one single document, but it would take too long to do a loan signing. (I can't even imagine how long it would take). Colorado does not have RON at this time. They do have an electronic notary commission, but the notary and signer must meet in person even though they are conducting the transaction electronically. |
