California law allows me to use another state's acknowledgement, but not another state's jurat. Therefore, I MUST carry and use loose jurats. I've actually never seen half-page ones for sale. I'm sure they're out there, I just never looked for them. The ones I buy are standard letter size. I've never run into a problem with a loose letter-sized certificate being rejected because it was attached to a legal-sized document. Not saying either that that's never happened; I have had the clerk come back and reject a few documents I've notarized through the years for reasons so anal, a proctologist had to consult. I rarely have to do any other kind of act. Back when I worked at the university, I did buy Copy Certs by Custodian forms, since "notarized copies" (which actually aren't allowable in California) was a frequent request of students and faculty. But yes, I imagine this is something that varies by state. In California, I couldn't do my job without them. |
