"Four a day at $125 to $200 ($500 to $800) is way more beneficial to your bottom line than $300 (four at $75)"
This is an extremely important point to emphasize, because we need to be looking at more than just our total revenue. Put another way, you'd have to do 6-7 signings a day at $75 to make the same gross revenue, but it's even worse than that. If we assume that the cost of doing an assignment is the same for the $75 job as it is for the $125 job, your profit margin is way different. Whatever it might be for the $75 job, at $125, your profit margin is $50 MORE, *per assignment*!!! Yes, it probably means you owe a little bit more on taxes, but you're still coming out way ahead.
When you add up all the miscellaneous administrative costs and all the unpaid time invested that doesn't directly generate revenue (anyone ever do any marketing, bookkeeping, etc.?), the $75 fee barely keeps you in the black...
