You are correct, sir, I got lazy with my language. I notarized a signature, not a document.
As far as I'm concerned, I'm not looking at the validity of the document. I don't care what's in it as long as everything is filled out - it's not for me to determine if it's legal or not, just that the signer is who they say they are, and that I reasonably believe that they know what they are signing, and want to sign it. Just as I am not an attorney, I am also not a doctor, so that is where the "reasonable" part comes in.
What I was asking here, is just how folks here might have handled it for themselves. I know what I did was fine, just curious to see if there would be others that had a different take in the event something like this comes up again. I like to learn from as many sources as possible. With all that, would you have notarized it? |
