I find the lenders will take a longer signature (Jane Susan instead of Jane S), but will reject a shorter signature (Jane s). If the signature illegible then it does not matter at all. But the illegible signature should not be so short that it looks like initials. I find the big banks to be easier going about the signatures than smaller banks or mortgage companies.
