Regarding due date:
In my considered opinion, I am the one providing a service. Therefore, payment terms are mine to set forth. My invoices clearly state the due date (30 days from date of service). You don't go to the garage or doctor or barber and tell them, i.e. "Fix my transmission and I'll pay when I decide to." You pay on their terms. Sometimes, it's upon delivery of service; sometimes, it's on a payment schedule that you've both agreed to in advance; all depends on their business plan.
As with anything, there's always the exception. I have a couple of companies I work with that advised me from the beginning that they pay on the 5th of the month for all signings from the previous month. We concurred. I work their files and they pay like clockwork!
Most of my partners pay within 2 weeks from date of signing. I'm blessed and thankful.
