I was a notary in VA for 13 years. I think the notary commission application does say "full legal name" or similar, but I never put my middle name on there because I didn't want to have to sign every notary certificate with my middle name or initial. Unfortunately you are stuck signing your notary certificates however you signed your notary commission application. It may be worth it for you to reapply with the name you want to use, then be sure to sign the application with your regular signature. Even if you have your full legal name on the application, you could have simply signed it with your regular signature and that would have been fine. Contact the state notary division and discuss with them how you can change your official signature - there may be a way for you to do that. |
