Mike and I disagree about a LOT of stuff, but he didn't say anything wrong here.
Do you really need someone to define "old" to you? And yeah, it would be useful to point out that this couple was Japanese if the whole point of the story is that it was a difficult signing, because that suggests a language barrier.
But let's do it your way:
Mike: I had a really difficult signing with this couple today.
Us: Why? what went wrong?
Mike: I can't tell you because it might offend someone's sensitivities.
