Sounds like an attorney who's out of touch with reality - or at best, doesn't understand our role. Don't attorney's usually want to go after someone with deep pockets? Not only does the notary usually have the least amount of liability coverage (E&O or whatever), as a general rule, I'd bet we're also the least likely of any of the parties involved to have the personal resources to cover a major liability issue.

More importantly, as someone else did a good job of explaining, we're just supposed to get the docs signed. Trying to dump accountability on us for things other people are responsible for (people we've probably never even communicated with, beyond possibly being on the receiving end of an email), is just foolish, IMO.

So in case it isn't already obvious, no, I wouldn't sign that, either.
