Let me tell you what these "signing opportunities" are. They are offering $60.00 and are from the All-Star Notary, LLC branch in Boca Raton, FL. Opps, my bad, one just came in at $75.00 just now. I guess they are finding more and more notaries are not wanting to service these types of requests. They seem to canvas areas as I get about 4-6 of these per day.
They are a real estate company in south FL sending out approx.17-page document and you get them notarized. They are a contract that if the owners (that are signing) ever decide to sell their home, this real estate company gets the listing. This contract is binding for 40 years! If they don't get the listing, they charge the signer 3% of the home's current value at the time of sale because you defected the contract. In exchange for that, this person (I saw) was offered $750.00! That is just insane to me. I don't know if that 40-year contract passes along to the heirs if they die? I didn't read the whole 15 pages. It's not for me to decide or have an opinion what they do or do not do, but I find it highly unethical and I choose not to be a party to a deal like this. 40 years is a long time to have that hang over someone's head, and then what is their commission or charge to the seller going to be?
I only took one last week close by to see what it was, thank goodness it didn't pass the signer's "smell test" and they decided not to move forward. I took a T&P fee and still waiting for it. I won't do another one or be involved further, but will not block them until I see my few bucks.
