Thanks for taking the time to explain this, Gerard. I've seen what you're describing (or something similar that says "protected") in Word docs before. So I can see that it would be helpful in preventing tampered documents from being used fraudulently - if, as you said, the potential user didn't know how to alter the actual code for that file, which I'd expect would dramatically reduce the chances.
But isn't that just one aspect of security? What about confidentiality of many notarized docs, often with personal data, stored in some unknown third party's "cloud"? Maybe I'm being naive on this, too, but when we hear about many kinds of data bases being hacked, it doesn't give me warm fuzzies - even outside of notary work... |
