Thank goodness we have NR and Notaries like Cheryl. It is not just bad business to work for someone who does not pay you, it’s a disservice to yourself.
I pull-up Signing Central on my phone and check the most recent reviews, before saying yes to any assignment. It is part of checking my schedule to see if I’m available. I check SC reviews first. Then, only if the company is a “paying company,” I check my availability. It’s routine.
I’m not here to line someone else’s pocket and work for free. When I discovered this forum and the support for Notaries, such as researching industry questions, and helping each other so that we don’t get bamboozled by non-paying companies, I felt so fortunate. Thank you to all who contribute!
This is a lesson for all Notaries out there. Check Signing Central before taking on jobs. If a company is refusing to pay other Notaries, and making excuses, they will do the same to you – guaranteed. Buyer beware. Be smart. Don’t be a suckered in.
And, don’t pay for nonsense youtube videos promising the moon. Believe in yourself. Trust your instincts. Do your own research (especially here on NR), study your State’s Notary Handbook (often), ask questions of your fellow Notaries (who are here to help each other, not take your money). |
