First of all, good for you for saying no to that ridiculous offer, although I imagine that was a pretty easy decision.
Unfortunately, I think this is an extremely difficult time to try to make this a full time business, especially if you've recently relocated. Things picked up a bit over the summer, but I've already seen them slow down again, now that schools are back in session. I suspect it will be years before the cycle reverses and volume picks up again. Interest rates have a huge impact on what happens in our field, as well as inventory on the market. Take a look at past history and you'll be able to get a bit of an idea of how long these cycles take. It's closer to decades than single years - and certainly not months.
Most of my notary work these days is GNW, a lot of it from established clients and/or people I once helped with a RE related transaction. If I wasn't semi-retired, diversified, and debt-free, I'd probably be looking for something else right now myself. |
