Haven't researched this yet (but need to, as I'm about to start the renewal process soon). My initial reaction is that I wouldn't feel comfortable accepting those unless or until I see something in writing from the SOS office that specifically allows it. I'm certainly no expert on data security - or what security features are built into our IDs, especially the digital version - but at this point, I agree with whomever felt it would be too easy to tamper with.
Hopefully, more information will be coming our way. In some years past, our SOS office has issued newsletters after the first of the year with updates on whatever laws or other changes they feel need to be addressed, so hopefully this issue will be included this year. [Maybe we should quickly bombard them with questions about this to encourage them to do so...  ] |
