Also, if the draft rules don't change much before adoption, Vermont does not require a journal, although the usual recording of RON sessions will be required. I voluntarily use a paper journal. If I choose to do e-notarization, I plan to document the e-notarizations in the paper journal. I feel the signer's handwritten signature (for an IPEN) and not having to worry about the provider of an e-journal going belly up outweighs any advantage of an e-journal. I might figure out a way to create stickers with a SHA-256 of the finished document that I can stick in my paper journal.
