There are too many notaries that don't practice the discipline it takes to schedule jobs in a manner that lets them meet all requirements and hit shipping deadlines while arriving to appointments on time. Too many believe signers should accommodate their schedule not the other way around. They are not reviewing documents before arrival and not asking questions when unsure of what to do. I always tell signers that I'm going to doublecheck our work before leaving because an error will bring me back and while it's rare I have to return I never act like it never ever happens. Hasn't happened much. Seems like everyone is looking for a side gig that lets them get paid a lot for very little time but this job isn't about having our own needs met. I love HELOCS they take no time at all and signers are very educated. When I started as a notary my good friend and mentor said this is a cycle - it becomes busier as the bad notaries are weeded out. I find that to be very true. As you grow a reputation for reliability and a low rate of error, schedulers start calling you as preferred instead of blasting orders to every notary in the area. It takes time - but it happens. |
