I don't do real estate signings anymore, so I don't have to worry about Title 365. Also, although our law and rules don't address when we can use our stamp other than a notarial act, I wouldn't use it for anything except else except responding to a request for it from the Office of Professional Regulation, and perhaps in ordering a new stamp if applicable.
I am sympathetic with Title 365 though, because not all states require that the name on the stamp exactly match the name on other notary related documents, such as the E & O insurance, notary commission, oath of office, or name on the notary's electronic account with the agency that handles commissions. It would be nice if they had explained what they intend to do with the information.
As an example of name surprises, I found out that when I got a Vermont notary commission and omitted my middle name, the middle name disappeared from my engineering license. |
