I received NUMEROUS blast text offers from various companies (signing services and title companies, both) yesterday. Many were for extremely low-ball fees; some were for outside my service area with no time allowed for printing and driving. For those in the latter department, I just ignored/deleted. For the low-ballers, most I ignored, some I countered. It was a slow day for me and sometimes I'm up to play their game.
There was a sellers package that came in for $65 with a sign time of 11am at a location approximately 40-60 minutes' drive from me. I countered at $200. That same offer kept coming in with additional $5 incremental increases. I kept countering at $200. When it came in at $90, I countered at $225. Voila! Shortly thereafter, I received a phone call and an email awarding me the signing at $200. HOWEVER ... the 11am signing time had already passed. I was to contact signers and schedule to allow for full scan backs (47-page package) and to make final Fedex pickup for the day. Next thing I know, signers call me and we scheduled for 2:00pm, which allowed plenty of time for everything. Got 'er done and everyone was happy!
Counter offering works sometimes.
