A few years ago, I decided to cut off this added stress. I've made it a habit of setting a deadline for docs. I clearly communicate this deadline to hiring party at the very beginning ... regardless of whether it's a phone call or an automated acceptance process. If docs aren't accessible by my deadline, the signing gets turned back. HOWEVER, in my 3+ years of doing this, I've only lost 1 or 2 signings.

It's my business. I set my parameters.
