I almost totally disagree. I've seen too many "certified" signing agents who couldn't find their butt with both hands. I would much rather hire an uncertified COMPETENT signing agent than a certified agent who doesn't understand what a notary can and cannot do, nor what APR or Aggregate Adjustment means.

It is just unfortunate that some companies look at the certification as experience and understanding, when all it is, is proof of regurgitation of facts easily found in the book (using the NNA's exam as an example).

This is why some companies employ their own competency exam. And, if I were in the position of hiring signing agents, I too would probably be inclined to have some type of competency exam and a "probation" period where the SA would have to prove themselves, if they haven't already.
