I think what I dislike most about the PM is the anonymity. I have no idea who is sending me a PM if the message comes over with the authors real name.
I have been visiting other industry forums lately that require everyone to be logged in to read and to post. I have to say, I kinda like that. If I want to send a message off board to a member, I can click on their profile, click on their email address and send an email from the site. The recipient will know that the email came to them via the board and they can view the profile of the member it came from.
Sounds simple to me.  I know, I know, I have no idea how these things work and I'm sure it is not an easy task. Maybe once the whole "picture" is finished, it will work well, but right now, I don't like it one bit.
