This reminds me of a slight pet peeve of mine. It seems that when you need to call a title co - especially at end-of-month - you often end up getting an assistant or clerk who actually has no idea what you're talking about. All too often, they will try to give an answer to get you off the phone rather than bother their very busy escrow officer boss. I can't count the number of times I've asked "Are you sure?" or "What about ______?", to which the response is frequently "Oh... Let me ask." Then we play the back and forth dance and end up with a different answer at the end, but hopefully one that makes sense.
I'm not a fan of having to have a conversation through a go-between who can only relay the issue to the level of their own understanding, which may be limited. (We've all played "telephone", right?!) It would often save so much energy and grief if we could just talk directly to the person who knows or has the authority to make a decision.
