* Its like I have a new family! *
You do! We are like a bunch curious pups. Maybe I just speak for myself, but it's like we have to sniff everyone out and figure out where they've been, so to speak. And, if we like what we smell then we'll let you sniff us. (Surely, I did NOT just use a dog rear sniffing analogy to welcome a new poster. Hopefully, I did not say that allowed. I should never be allowed on this board after 10 pm.)
When a girl comes on here and says, "I'm a welder, but I'm going to work at being a signing agent while I go to school." I just can't be too worried about her determination factor...it speaks for itself. You're going to do well in life.
The signing agent business is difficult right now. I saw a slowdown in Texas years ago and decided I was not going to be satisfied with what the market would provide me. I work full time. I will only do a signing appointment if it pays fairly (well) and if it's really a convenient situation.
Looking at where you are located I would say that you stand to be able to slowly develop a good business because you are fairly isolated IF you can cover a lot of territory. But, you need to get your fees up to accommodate that kind of travel. Don't be afraid to set your fees up higher than they offer. See if you get the job. Test the market. I have not checked for others in your territory but I would say there's a good chance that there's not a lot of dependable notary service in your area. However, if there's DFW notaries who will travel a long way for a little you will see people doing your area for peanuts. They won't last. Check out your competition's positioning and start making a spreadsheet for all the areas you will visit and for how much. |
