It is the current proposal on the table which Dems refuse
Posted by Moneyman/TX of TX on 1/17/19 7:19am Msg #72292
So in your opinion, Mike, any newly elected member of Congress that explains the details of whatever bill, or proposed bill, they are currently working on to his constituents is considered "a spokesperson for ... Trump ... (or Pelosi if they are a Democrat) in your mind? Not a very useful or intelligent opinion to hold for logical political debates, but hey, everyone has a right to their own opinion.

This discussion is about what is currently being proposed for Congress to vote on which can also end the partial government shutdown; the fact that the Dems are unwilling to even consider voting for it, or to even accurately describe it in political discussions.

[the floor is once again open for focused & on topic pro/con questions/comments]

As you well know, Mike, when it comes to the bills Congress votes on, it is what is in the actual bill that matters, not campaign rhetoric. That is what future elections are for if the passed bills don't line up with whatever someone said during a campaign to get votes.

Yes, Trump did say that "Mexico will pay for it", and anyone (inc. supporters, journalists, oppo party talking heads, and opponents) then or now, who actually believed that the sovereign State of Mexico was actually going to cut a check to the U.S. as payment for the wall is just stupid.
Since Congress is NOT voting on that campaign slogan, I have to say "So what!? Save that type of distraction crap for arguing against him winning re-election when it would be on-topic. Focus and debate the actual topic being discussed today."

After all, who isn't better off with that famous $2,500/yr health insurance premium savings Obama promised while we got to keep our doctors; or the awesome benefits we have enjoyed since Clinton ended "the era of big government"; and who could forget that added boost to our individual bank accounts we had in the late 80's because after we read his lips, Bush saved us from any "new taxes" ?

I am not trying to encourage more off topic and conflated arguments, just hoping that by pointing the above out might help to keep us focused and on topic.
