You're a veteran, Rich - do people come up to you and say this? My older brother served in Vietnam and doesn't even want to talk about it - "Thank you for your service" for him is something that would dredge up memories he would rather forget. The US military does an incredible job, but all of our national holidays are not about them, and I doubt they would want them to be.
Yeah, I’m a vet, and just by luck did not go to Southeast Asia. But I have lots of friends who did go. One was a tunnel rat and was featured on the Walter Cronkite 60 minutes report, in fact they named the clip after his quote. “I guess I’ll get used to it.” Fact check it if you want. Another friend has a hole in his foot from stepping on a punji, one is suffering neurological damage from working with agent orange, and one is paralyzed from the waste down when he caught 3 30 cal rounds in the back.
The war was useless, and the returning vets were treated like garbage. When I left active duty, and wore my uniform home, I was called a baby killer at O’Hare.
And, let’s not forget who escalated that war shall we? LBJ, a Democrat!
You want something really disgusting? Go to your twitter friends, or wherever you do your research and look up McNamara’s 100,000. When I was in basic, there was a company of them in the next barracks. Again Democrats.
I still got a Thank You card from Lowe’s in July where I receive a discount, and I damn well appreciate it.
I would still like to thank your brother for his service. Don't know what his MOS was, but tell him a 13Alpha has his respect, and still has his back. He will understand.
