It may sound pretty much the same, but Trump's words don't match his actions. As many MAGAts have said in the past - don't listen to his words, look at what he does.
OK, so let's do that. What he has done is CUT funding for medical research, not increased it. How do you find a cure for a disease when you eliminate the funding required to find that cure? He's just making it up because it sounds good.
Biden, on the other hand, is saying he will make it a priority if he's elected. He has motivation - his son died from cancer. Unlike Trump, he has no control over the current funding - but if elected, he would try to get additional funding
Trump has no motivation to do anything that doesn't benefit Trump. He's a sociopath, and that was on display during his visit Wednesday to the El Paso Medical Center. He shifted the discussion from the victims of the tragedy to himself, talking about his rally there earlier this year (and, as usual, lying about the size of the crowd) and attacking Beto. I don't know if you've seen the photo of him and Melania, with Melania holding the 2-month old baby whose parents were killed in the massacre while Trump stands next to her, smiling and giving a thumbs up. A thumbs up??? What message is he sending?
To quote a phrase often used by someone I follow on Twitter - he showed the situational awareness of a dog licking his butt in public. One of the hospital administrators in El Paso said that Trump showed a lack of empathy during his visit. Quelle surprise! Trump doesn't do empathy - he does Trump.
So if you believe his "promise" to cure a non-existant disease called "childhood cancer" is anything more than an attempt to burnish the Trump image, you're delusional. It's not going to happen under his watch, because he disabled the mechanism to make it happen. |
