Do you understand the difference between socialism, democratic socialism, and social programs? I don't think so.
Socialism is when the government controls the means of production and the means of distribution. Name me ONE Democrat who has advocated that the federal government should control the means of production in America. Just one, and I will agree that they are a socialist. If you can't do that, please stop labeling everyone you don't agree with as a socialist, because it's nonsense.
Democratic socialism is where the people have a voice in what the government can do with the money it collects.
Social programs can - and do - exist in a capitalist society. They redistribute wealth based on the needs of certain groups of citizens. Obvious examples of current social programs are Social Security (duh), Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP, CHIP...
Oh, and that $32 billion bailout Trump is giving the farmers he screwed with his tariffs? It's a social program, where taxpayer money is being distributed to citizens who need help. Or maybe, if we use your definition, it's a socialist program, which means your hero is a socialist
You can't have it both ways - either the government should help you or it shouldn't. It's not situational. A true capitalist would tell the farmers to solve their own problems, no? Why is Trump willing to help them? By your definition, he's a socialist - because you don't understand what socialism is, but you're willing fo label people that way.
