I added the "But" because I didn't quote it exactly. It doesn't change the entire sentence. "I need a favor from you, though..." is essentially the same thing - he's asking for something to be done in exchange for what was requested. If you remove the word "though", THAT changes the whole sentence.
But it doesn't matter whether there was quid pro quo - it's the ask that violates US law. You CANNOT solicit or accept money or assistance from a foreign entity or person in order to influence an election. Period. And here we have POTUS - in a transcript provided by HIS White House people - soliciting information that could be detrimental to a political opponent from a foreign government. Whether they got anything in return is irrelevant.
It's illegal. Which part of this don't MAGAts understand?
