And he was immediately attacked by Trump in a couple of vicious tweets.
I think that's part of what is giving the GOP members pause - they don't know how to fight off the barrage of nastiness that will come from Trump's Twitter account if they try to stand up to him. If they pay attention, they could probably learn something from the Dems like AOC, Warren, O'Rourke, etc, who are not at all intimidated by anything that Trump has to say, and who often give back better than they get.
Lost in the sauce - GOP Senator Ron Johnson said he was told by the Ambassador to the EU, Gordon Sondland, that there was a definite quid pro quo with the Ukrainians - military aid in exchange for an investigation into the Bidens. Johnson said he approached Trump about this, and Trump denied it. Several days later, Sondland said the exact opposite in a text message.
So the question is - was Sondland lying then, or is he lying now? Clearly, both accounts can't be true.
It should be noted that Sondland's entire qualification for being a US Ambassador to ANYWHERE in the world, much less the EU, was that he donated $1 million to Trump's inauguration. And as EU Ambassador, his portfolio doesn't include Ukraine, raising the obvious question - why was he sticking his nose in where it didn't belong? |
