This is not about a 500-mile long border, this is about one specific area that was supposed to be a safe zone. The Kurds had built defensive positions there, and the US convinced them to destroy those positions. Erdogan told Trump to move our troops out of the way because he was going to begin an incursion in that specific area - not somewhere along a 500-mile border, but right there where the Kurds were. And Trump did as he was told, leaving the Kurds defenseless.
"These people have been fighting for 2000 years" is the same lame excuse Trump tried to use. That safe zone was supposed to be a buffer between the two, and it was working until this impulsive decision was made. They were our allies who helped us defeat ISIS; we paid them back by setting them up to be slaughtered. |
